Retro Rubber Challenge #273

As I write this I feel like a contestant on the Great British Bake Off reality show. They're always running around at the final moments making something that just gets in seconds before the buzzer goes off.

In reality, I have over 1.5 hours to finish this before Retro Rubber Challenge #273 (#rrcb273) closes. Plenty of time! But up until now, every smudged sentiment and wonky twine was a real stressor. But here it is! I always love to play along with them, it's just amazing how quickly the weeks pass by.

The challenge this time is a Tic-Tac-Toe Board. I chose the middle column which includes Stripes, Squares and Twine. I knew I wanted to use this grid layout, but I had a vision of the card being a masculine one. However due to the lack of time, it's so much easier to put flowers on something.

Here's my supply list:

  • Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Posies Stamp Set (released in 2020)
  • SU! Flirty Flamingo Card Stock & Ink
  • Michaels Black Ink
  • SU! Patterned Paper
  • SU! Berry Burst Ink
  • SU! Parakeet Party Ink
  • SU! Shy Shamrock Ink
  • Memento Black Ink
  • White Card Stock
  • Michaels Twine

Retro Rubber always has such fun challenges, and even though you won't be able to make this one, join in the next time around! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

  2. The flowers are beautiful with the black and white grid background! Lovely card! I haven't played at RR for a long time, but should, as I do love using my old stamps.

  3. A stunning creation Barb - love your comment about putting flowers on being easier than making a masculine card :) The pop of bright colour against the black and white is really eye catching

  4. That Great British Bake Off comparison is so incredibly relatable, we have all had those manic crafting moments where it feels like the countdown music is playing in the background! Putting flowers on a layout is the ultimate, foolproof rescue move, and it worked out beautifully here because the colors look absolutely stunning. The grid pattern fits the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge so perfectly, and using those Gorgeous Posies stamps from a few years back is exactly what the spirit of a retro challenge is all about. You nailed the stripes, squares, and twine combo just in the nick of time, and it turned out to be a total masterpiece.
