Word Art Wednesday Guest Designing!

I’m so excited to be guest designing this time over at Word Art Wednesday. Their sponsor this time is Taylored Expressions and I’ve used two of Taylor’s products in this card.

The first Taylored Expressions item that I used is one of my favorite stamps called Big Delivery. It’s perfect for masculine cards and coloring the truck is so fun. The second TE product is the Frame in Frame 2 die cut set. I love how easy it makes it to frame an A2 card.

Here’s my complete supply list:

  • Taylored Expressions Big Delivery Stamps and Dies (retired)

  • TE Frame in Frame 2 Dies (retired)
  • Stampin’ Up! Smoky Slate Card Stock
  • White Card Stock
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Stamping’ Up! Poppy Parade Ink
  • Copic Markers C3, C5, E35, E37 & R35
  • Doodlebug Beetle black Dot-Stripe Paper

Even though my products are retired, Taylored Expressions has a wonderful lineup of great products that are currently available. So be sure to check out all the wonderful cards over at Word Art Wednesday. And if you play along you’ll have an opportunity to win a $30.00 gift certificate from Taylored Expressions. Taylor’s line has so many cute designs that it will be hard to choose!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Vintage Atlas Card & Envelope

This week there was a 7-year-old boy on The Angel Card Project who loves mail and geography. This is also the week that I happened to buy an old atlas at an estate sale for $1.00. I paired the two up and made him a card with my hometown on the front and his hometown on the front of the homemade envelope.

I'm including this in the Miscellaneous Crafts section as well because this is easily a card that can be made without any fancy supplies. Simply buy and old (or new) atlas, but out the areas that you want to feature and glue them on regular card stock from the craft store.

If you want to add wording, simply hand-write or print something from your computer. You don't need a fancy truck like I put on. I was going to just add a simple "Happy Birthday" stamped word but when I opened my birthday stamp box this jumped out at me and I thought it would be adorable, especially for a little boy, on a card with a map.

For the truck I used a set from Taylored Expressions called "Big Delivery." It's such a fun set, but it's from 2015 and isn't available anymore unless you buy it used. I also used white card stock from Michaels (110#) and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The Sentiment "From Our House To Yours" is from Avery Elle's set called Chalet. The Copics I used are: R24, C5, C1 and C3.

I think it turned out really cute. I'm mailing it Monday and I can't wait for him to get it. I'll be looking for other opportunities too to create and send cards and envelopes to others. I have 48 pages left in my atlas!

Retro Rubber Challenge 200

First of all, wow, this is Retro Rubber's 200th Challenge! Congrats to Jane all everyone over there! I really enjoy their challenges and appreciate all their hard work.

This challenge is a sketch challenge. When I first looked at it I saw a road, and I thought, I have just the perfect stamp for that road. It's been a while since I used this set and I'm glad to have put it to good use once again.

Looking at the card now, there are two things I wished I had done differently. First is to make the grass one continuous piece rather than cutting it at the bottom. Second, I should have stamped the sentiment a little higher. But all things considered, it's a cute card.

Here's my compete supply list:

  • Taylored Expressions Big Delivery (2015)
  • Unknown Blue Dotted Paper
  • Black Card Stock
  • Stampin' Up! Cucumber Crush Card Stock
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Copics R29, R35, Y11, C31, R85, R81

I'm so glad to have made this cute card because I think it will be perfect for a guy, even though it's a little on the bright side. Guy cards are the hardest for me to make. So thanks again to everyone over at Retro Rubber for another great challenge!

10 MINUTE LATER UPDATE:

Well after making this post up to this point, I had the idea to fix the two things that I didn't like about the card by simply adding a piece of black twine. That way the divide in the grass doesn't show and it looks like I was supposed to put the sentiment that far down. Now I'm a lot happier with the card. I used twine instead of ribbon because it has more of a masculine look.

I just love how card making is a process. Usually when I sit at my craft desk I have no idea what the final outcome will look like. And the changes that come along the way are what make crafting so interesting!
