When I saw The Paper Players One-Layer Card Challenge, I knew it was time. I combined that with the Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge, which is plaid or checks. I'm also entering thiso over at The Neglected Stuff Challenge because I don't know when I last used this Deep Red Vintage Woody stamp, if ever! It has been highly neglected for years.
I have to credit the current Stampin' Up! catalog with the idea for this one. On page 114, there is a treat box made with acetate. They took alcohol markers and made a plaid design on it. It's really cute, and that's where I got the idea to make the plaid on a one-layer card.
Here are a few pictures of how I did this:
This was a little harder than I anticipated, but I guess that's why it's called a challenge! I'm pleased with the card and I'm really happy that we have something to send to our friend on his birthday.
Here's my complete supply list for this one:
- 110# White Card Stock (Michaels)
- Avery Removable ID Labels
- Deep Red Vintage Woody Stamp
- Verve Sentiment
- Stampin' Up! Be The Star Stamps
- SU! Art Deco Label Dies
- Copic Markers
- Memento Paris Dusk Ink
- Various Copic Markers
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a blessed day!
Barb... love the story behind this card. What a motivation and congrats to you hubby for stepping up. I would never have thought to stick something between the layers... what about shakers? Must drive the jail personnel crazy. I love the tip on the Avery removable labels. I need more masking paper but I think I will give Avery a try. Thank you. Also your plaid is wonderful... and brilliant to create the solid over the plaid. You have such amazing technique. I can't thank you enough for sharing with the Paper Players this week.
