Warm Bunny/Cool Bunny Digital Freebie Card

While this little guy isn't my usual style I think he'll be perfect to put a smile on my daughter's face this winter. She's in grad school up in North Carolina, and they had snow today! It wasn't a lot, but enough to stick to the ground and give everyone a warm and cozy feel (or a headache depending on how you view snow!).

I printed him out at FedEx and trimmed him down then mounted him on black card stock from Michaels then onto a piece of Seaside Spray from Stampin' Up. It's a little hard to see, I did use some glitter glue on the snowflakes, giving it a a little sparkle and dimension, although you can finish it anyway you want.

Thinking of You Snowman Digital Freebie

Today's card came out a little bigger than usual. A slimline card fits in a #10 envelope. They have acetate envelopes that hold both of these to use at a craft show for example. I'm mailing this card in one of those larger envelopes. Since the maximum that an envelope can be is 11.5" I'm fine with the post office. I will be putting a non-machineable stamp on it because of the rhinestones.

Aside from the size, the card was real simple to make. I had the snowman printed at Fed Ex then mounted him on a piece of black card stock. On a larger white card base I put a piece of pink washi tape down the side, then stenciled on some bubbles (hopefully they look like snow). I mounted the black card stock on the stenciled part and added a few rhinestones and accented some of the snowy areas with Stickles Glitter Glue.

Another idea for this printable would be as a decoration for the front of a gift bag. A wine size gift bag would be perfect, but he could go on a regular size bag as well. You can even make him a bit smaller and create a gift tag too.

The photo below shows a little more detail that the glitter glue has on the clouds. Some glitter glues take on the color of the image behind it, as it did here. It looks like I used pink and blue glitter glue, but it's really just one whiteish color.

NBUS Challenge #57 (Cheerfoil)

I'm getting one more NBUS Challenge in just before Christmas because I just bought a new product and wanted to share it, even though it didn't go quite as planned. That's part of the fun!

Today was a really fun crafting day. I went to Pink & Main's store in Palmetto, Florida this morning. It's less than half an hour from my house and I feel so blessed to have a craft store to visit when I want to get a little crazy. It's their factory and store, so it's not going to close down like to many of the local brick and mortar craft stores. In fact, aside from Joann, Michaels and a Hobby Lobby that's a bit too far away, all the craft stores are gone from my area. Pink & Main is a haven for me!

I have one of their Minc machines, and it's a lot of fun to foil things for card making. I only had gold, so today I picked up a new Cheer Foil (their brand). It looked white, or silvery, but it turns out it was clear. It took some trial and error, but I was able to create a couple of cards as a result.

where the black is, but it took over the white too.
I'll have to play around with this product a 
little bit more!

The first card got messed up. I foiled the front of a base and the foil was supposed to only stick where the black is, but if you look closely you can see that the foiled adhered where the white is too. I then tried to foil on a sheet of regular card stock, but it didn't take. Thankfully I had some toner-based card stock in blue, which I used with the clear Cheer Foil I bought today and it looks cute. I was going for a snowy feel and I think I've got that.

Once I had the base, I mounted a digital stamp that I created on the front and framed it with black card stock.

The other card that I'm featuring here is one that was supposed to be the base for the one that got messed up. It's super plain, but as least I was able to salvage it and use it as a New Year's card.

It's a simple design using just glitter paper, silver shiny paper, rhinestones and a stamps from Avery Elle. It will be a great card for just the right person.

Despite feeling a little defeated in my craft room, I did have fun making both of these and using a NBUS product too!

Warm Wishes Digital Freebie

If you're looking for a card that can serve as a Christmas Card or one of those "you sent me one but if I send you one now it's not going to make it on time" cards. We've all needed those!

This Warm Wishes freebie may be the perfect card for such occasions. It's red, green and has cocoa on it but it doesn't say Christmas. Warm wishes, cocoa and cookies can take us far into the season!

I printed mine out at FedEx for a slick, professional finish, then cut the design out leaving a bit of white around the edges. 

A green card base with a strip of patterned paper on the edge was the base for this card. I then used an inexpensive glue stick to glue the graphic down. I finished it with some self-adhesive enamel dots.

Triple Challenge Masculine Birthday Card

Today's card is kind of a triple challenge for me, and I'm not even entering it in any blog challenges!

The first challenge is because it's for a guy. No offense to the guys, but it is a little harder making these. The second challenge is that it's for someone in a facility that can't have layers on their cards. I wanted more than to just stamp the words happy birthday on a sheet of paper, so I came up with this design.

The third challenge, which isn't really a challenge, is that he would like a word search or something brainy to do. I would love to include something, but have to run to the store first. If I had ink in my printer I would certainly print something out, but this is something that I certainly should have in my snail mail arsenal. After today, I'm on a mission to always have something fun to put inside a card.

Anyway, I made this card with a cut out and the truck is on the inside. It's interesting enough, but still one layer so I think it will pass the test. I used stencils in addition to stamps to give it more interest. The only down side is that the ink did bleed through on the very back of the card, but there's really nothing I could have done about that since it's a single layer card. 

When you open it up it looks like this:

I'm hoping that this man will enjoy his pickup truck and that he has a good birthday. It's often hard to have a birthday around Christmas. The card will be a little late and I hate that, but I'm sure it will cheer him up anyway.

A Masculine Merry Christmas

While browsing through some older stamps I came across this one of a deer. My daughter bought it for me four years ago for Christmas. When asked what I wanted for Christmas in 2019 I told her to go to Michaels or Joann's and choose a rubber stamp that she liked. I love doing this because I get a new stamp and it's often one that I wouldn't choose on my own. That's exactly what happened here.

This deer stamp is one that I've used several times and it makes a perfect stamp for a masculine card. Yet I would have never bought it on my own. I'm so glad she did! I've used it for birthdays but never thought about making a masculine Christmas card. I think it turned out perfect for just the right guy.

Retro Rubber Challenge #221 Merry Christmas!

Well after yesterday's card class in which I had 13 ladies, it feels really good to just sit down and make one card! I forgot how much work goes into putting on a class, and maybe I'm a little older too. :)

Anyway, today's card is made for Retro Rubber's Merry Christmas Chhallenge #221. (#rrcb221) It's their last challenge this year and the theme is simply Merry Christmas. There is a design that goes along with it, and my inspiration from that is the sheet music and the metallic bells.

It's a little hard to see from the photo, but the ornaments are silver  and the tops of the ornaments are gold.

Highlights From Today's Card Making Class

After a long break due to Covid, I finally hosted a Christmas card making class at my church. With everything else going on right now during the busy Christmas season, I was somewhat reluctant, but I'm so glad I did!

That's me standing in the back. I got to meet lots of new ladies and we all had a great time. They were so proud of the cards that they made. You can see it on their faces below:

My mom (in the red shirt) helped out so much. I couldn't have done it without her! 

It was such a fun class! I'm exhausted but it was worth it. I hope we can get together again soon and make more cards. I'm thinking of a birthday class in the summer when things are slower. And maybe dividing it into two classes with a total of eight in each. 

It makes my heart happy to see how much fun everyone had!

Sister & Brother-In-Law Digital Freebie Christmas Card

It was really fun designing custom Christmas card for my husband's siblings this year. Each got a very different look that was tailored to their unique personalities. 

This one is for my sister-in-law. Even though it says Sister and Brother-In-Law, it's kind of being sent from my husband, so that's why it reads that way.

After professionally printing out the artwork at FedEx, I trimmed it and mounted it on burgundy card stock then added a strip of snowflake patterned paper and mounted it all on a green card base.

I've included two digital freebies here, one for a sister and brother-in-law like I needed, and one for a brother and sister-in-law, which I may use for my own brother! Feel free to use either of these for your own personal use!

Hurried Hanukkah Card

My son is home now waiting to start school and we've been watching the show Master Chef. Contestants are asked to make specific dishes in a short amount of time. The best dish wins that round. They run around the kitchen like crazy as they make the most amazing dish they possibly can before the timer goes off.

That's the way I felt making this card!

It seems the older I get the quicker time passes. It seems like is should still be summer, yet here we are in the first week of December.

All year long I've been making mental notes of the Hanukkah rubber stamps and paper that I had. And I kept thinking, I've got everything I need to make the perfect card when the time comes. Well, yikes, it's here already and way too soon. 

It took me about 20 minutes just to find all the supplies. Once that happened, it came together nicely.

I really wanted to send this with a Hanukkah postage stamp, but didn't have one. Once again, I was at the post office so many times and saw them, but thought I had plenty of time to buy one. It was more important that it got in the mailbox today than have the right stamp, and it did make today's mail.

This year Hanukkah runs from December 7 to December 15. I'm pretty sure it will make it there by the 15th.

This hurried up card gives me new motivation to try and be more diligent and organized with all my cards this upcoming year. There's nothing wrong with making a Hanukkah card in July, which is what I'm hoping to do in 2024. I'll be good and ready next year!

Matching Christmas Card & Gift Tag

Pre-Covid I hosted card-making classes each Wednesday night at my church for a year and a half. Looking back, it was a lot of work. The hardest part was not knowing how many ladies (and sometimes a guy would join us) I would have each each week. I would prepare for 12, and usually had around 7 or 8. I loved those days.

Now I go to a smaller church where my mom attends and I haven't led a card class since early 2020. But that's all going to change next week. Once again I'm hosting a Christmas card-making class. This time I had sign ups, and over 15 people are coming. Since that's really too many for one class, especially since most of them are stamping newbies, I'm dividing the class into two afternoons.

This matching card and gift tag are what we're making. I'm thinking it's pretty easy, and still a little challenging. My supply list for this is:
